Lia has made some interesting research and observations, she provides several interesting links for further exploration, including Instagram profiles, which I find great because everyone can get some knowledge from there in an entertaining way with concrete photos, examples etc. This problem of media’s portrayals of body image is very serious and can have tragic consequences mainly for children and younger adults, thus I find it important to bring awareness to it and take steps to eliminate the negative impacts as much as possible.

She provides many useful links, helpful educational studies, how food advertising negatively impacts children, and discusses the disturbing screen time among children, for instance.

You should definitely visit Lisa’s blog because the issue she is discussing is very interesting and I think many people do not realize its importance. The media set unrealistic norms and beliefs that dictate a stereotype that people should follow, which may lead them to feel frustrated. As Lisa describes, unfortunately, media choose the content that sells, not the one that is “healthier” for the society. Among other interesting insights, I liked the article regarding the Emily in Paris series the most because it is a very recent show that has been watched by millions of viewers, thus, it has some influence on the society.

It is important to have sufficient knowledge regarding this issue because digital propaganda used by governments is a real thing all around the world and it is necessary to develop a critical point of view in order to distinguish between biased and unbiased information. Dariia provides perfect examples that are very much fitting into this problematic nowadays, such as the invasion of Ukraine, or COVID-19 pandemic.

Final blog that I would recommend you visit is Renata’s blog concerning the issue of representation of people of color in media. I believe that if you watch movies or series on somehow regular basis, you had to notice that people of color are either underrepresented, or portrayed in a different, stereotypical way.., why is that? Do “white people” have some kind of a privilege, or what is it? I do not think so. That is why I believe Renata’s chosen topic is very relevant and important to address it in contemporary society.
